Every grower operates in a unique context of climate, crop, and market demands. Whether it is a strategic greenfield consultation or a complex logistical trading operation, our goal remains the same: to provide honest advice and efficient execution.
Transparency and guidance as key decision factors
June’s approach to every project—just like Ancafina’s—is built on transparent communication combined with strong commercial insight and technical expertise.
Initial evaluation always starts with receiving soil and water analysis, to be able to determine the most suitable soil improvement substrate. Design of the blend considered soil properties, water quality and growing system.
Key aspects of substrate for blueberries in ridges are:
To ensure ideal water distribution, substrate used in growing banks or ridges must have a well-balanced particle composition and strong structural integrity. Together with the root system, this creates a stable, long-term growing environment. It also supports faster primary root development, which is essential for long-term crop stability and a healthy root zone.
For improving water distribution, we designed the peat blend with higher percentage of peat fibers. This material is very specific, and acts as a highway for roots, and due to its properties, it enhances water movement through the substrate(acts like water pipes). In ridges, it is very difficult to create homogeneous structure of the growing media, and because it is a high volume of substrate (400-500m3 per ha), it takes time to create uniform environment with the optimal water/air balance.
With our special blend, we sped up the formation of the optimal root zone, young plant rooting becomes faster, because of reduced stress levels, faster water distribution and optimal water/air ratio. All of this, will have a huge effect on the long run, and benefit the crop’s performance.
Operational challenge
In a very challenging season and severe lack of peat moss material, our joint effort was to create a good baseline of material on site, so that the planting season and work can be done on schedule. Additional challenge came from the 2026 fuel crisis and transport companies increasing their costs.
Our partner, Rysa substrates, was one of the only suppliers, that could offer sufficient amounts of material late in the season(early spring). Together with them and Ancafina, we made a comprehensive plan of production, loading and deliveries, optimizing and lowering the risks as much as possible. Deliveries were spread over a period of twenty weeks.
As the peat harvesting season was gaining traction, volumes per truck increased, therefore optimizing the deliveries even further.
In addition, June is being considered for supplying complementary technologies, such as substrate handling machines and nanobubble technology. These 2 additional technologies, are further enhancing root zone environment, all supplementing the crop’s performance, and as a result improve crops potential and yield in the long run.
